My name is Dr. Jennifer Moffitt, creator of Polyvagal Acupuncture™. Polyvagal Acupuncture (PVA) is a unique approach that integrates Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with contemporary developments in neuroscience, biochemistry, and myofascial physiology. This method is grounded in an understanding of how the body’s systems are interconnected—with a particular focus on the nervous system’s role in health, trauma recovery, and emotional regulation.
What is Polyvagal Acupuncture?
Polyvagal Acupuncture is a clinical method that applies acupuncture and reflex-oriented techniques to restore healthy parasympathetic function in the brain and body. By engaging specific meridians, particularly through the sinew channels, we work directly with primitive reflexes and fascial pathways to support neuroplastic change.
This approach draws on research from Polyvagal Theory, somatic therapy, and developmental neuroscience, bringing those principles into a hands-on treatment model. The goal is not only to calm the nervous system, but to support its capacity to reorganize and heal—especially in cases where standard talk therapy or symptom-based treatment has reached a plateau.
By refining the body's reflexive responses, Polyvagal Acupuncture supports recovery across a range of complex conditions—including PTSD, demyelinating disease, stroke, and developmental trauma. This work is also highly effective for chronic orthopedic injuries and persistent nerve pain, where motor patterns have become disorganized and compensation strategies have taken hold.
Through precise stimulation of neurofascial networks, we help the body restore vagal tone to movement, sensation, and emotional regulation.
A Treatment Path
Polyvagal Acupuncture is not a one-size-fits-all intervention. In complex or long-standing cases, particularly those involving early trauma or nervous system collapse, healing is a layered process. If this approach is not the best clinical fit for your needs, I will refer you to a provider who may be better suited to support your next phase of care.
